Are the Dulora GU10 Globes Dimmable?

Yes. Both the Sunset Dim GU10 and Flex Beam GU10 are fully dimmable and have been tested across a wide range of phase-cut dimmer switches. The dimming technology is the same across both models, so the guidance below applies to either product.

Recommended Dimmer Types

Trailing Edge (T): Preferred. Also known as reverse phase dimmers, trailing edge dimmers deliver the smoothest dimming curve and the quietest operation. This is the recommended dimmer type for all Dulora GU10 globes.

Leading Edge (L): Compatible with caution. Also known as forward phase or TRIAC dimmers, leading edge dimmers are compatible but may occasionally produce a slight audible hum during operation. If you are specifying into a high-end residential or hospitality environment where silent operation is important, a trailing edge dimmer is the better choice.

Universal (U): Compatible. Universal dimmers that support both trailing and leading edge loads are compatible with our GU10 range.

Important Notes

Minimum load requirements. Most dimmers require a minimum total wattage on the circuit to operate reliably. Because LED globes draw significantly less power than halogen, it is important to check that the total wattage of your connected globes meets the dimmer's stated minimum load. Failure to meet this can result in flickering, buzzing, or the globes not turning on at low dim settings.

Fixture ventilation. Variations in downlight fixture design and ambient temperature can affect the thermal performance of the globe. We recommend ensuring adequate airflow around the fitting, particularly in enclosed or insulated ceiling installations.

C-Bus and DALI systems. Compatibility with C-Bus and DALI systems depends on the specific output module installed. Please confirm the module type with your electrician or lighting control integrator before specifying.
