What MR16 products does Dulora supply?
Three models are available: the Sunset Dim MR16, a dim-to-warm spotlight rated at 450 lumens, 7W, CRI 95, with a fixed 36° beam and a colour shift from 2700K at full output to 1800K at minimum output; the FlexBeam MR16, a 460-lumen, 7W, CRI 97 spotlight with a field-adjustable beam of 24°, 36°, or 55°, available in 2700K or 3000K; and the 7W MR16 LED Spotlight, a fixed 36° warm white at 2700K delivering 400 lumens, CRI 97.
All three operate on 12V AC via a compatible low-voltage transformer, use a GU5.3 bi-pin base, and are rated IP20 for dry interior applications.
What is CRI and why does it matter?
CRI (Colour Rendering Index) measures how accurately a light source renders colours relative to natural daylight, on a scale of 0 to 100. A higher CRI means colours appear truer and more vivid under the light. For residential interiors, hospitality, retail display, and architectural lighting, a CRI of 90 or above is considered high performance. Dulora MR16 spotlights are rated CRI 95 or CRI 97, placing them in the ultra-high range and making them well suited to premium residential and commercial specifications.
Transformer Selection
All three spotlights require a 12V AC low-voltage transformer. Over 90 transformer and driver models have been tested and confirmed compatible. The full reference list is available in the MR16 Compatible Transformers, Drivers and Dimming Systems article and as a downloadable PDF from each product page. For transformers not on the list, contact our trade team.
Minimum Lamp Load Requirements
Some transformers require a minimum connected wattage to operate correctly. On circuits with a single lamp or a low total load, confirm the transformer's minimum load specification is met. Insufficient load is a common cause of flickering and unreliable dimming. The compatibility list flags all units with a minimum 2-lamp requirement.
Dimming
All three models are dimmable via a trailing-edge LED dimmer. The Sunset Dim MR16 is engineered for dim-to-warm performance, shifting automatically from 2700K to 1800K as output is reduced, with no additional control infrastructure required. The FlexBeam MR16 and 7W MR16 LED Spotlight maintain a fixed colour temperature across the dimming range.
FlexBeam Beam Angle Selection
The FlexBeam MR16 beam angle must be set prior to insertion into the lamp holder. The twist-lens ring is not accessible once the lamp is seated. Available settings are 24°, 36°, and 55°. This should be confirmed and set at the time of installation.
Fixture Compatibility
All three spotlights are suitable for glass and enclosed downlight fittings. IP20 rating applies; these products are not specified for wet areas or exposed exterior locations.
Lifespan and Warranty
The Sunset Dim MR16 and FlexBeam MR16 are rated at 40,000 hours. The 7W MR16 LED Spotlight is rated at 25,000 hours. All three carry a 3-year warranty.
Halogen Retrofit
All three models use a GU5.3 bi-pin base and are direct retrofits for existing 12V MR16 halogen downlight fittings. Confirm transformer compatibility before specifying, particularly where existing transformers were calibrated for 50W halogen loads.
